TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Restaurant aggregator Zomato has decided to cease its operations in Indonesia. Despite closing offices in Indonesia, the Indian company ensures that their app can still be accessed by local users.
"You can still access Zomato's restaurant search feature through our app and website, and you can still share reviews or photos there," the company's official Twitter account @ZomatoId posted on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
The tweet was a response to netizens' reaction over the company's shutdown plan; concerned that they can no longer use the service's search feature.
To Tempo, Zomato said they decided to stop their local operations in Indonesia. The company thanks everyone for their support; including users, restaurant communities, and other partners in Indonesia. For the next step, Zomato will realign its market strategy according to the company's long-term vision.
With its Indonesian branch closed, Zomato said they would manage the platform remotely in India. Thus, they will continue to serve search and restaurant discovery in Indonesia.
"We are also making every effort to support our team in this country," a spokesperson for Zomato wrote.
