TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government’s public communication aspect became the focal point in Monday’s limited cabinet meeting led by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as the President urged cabinet members to better communicate the government’s COVID-19 vaccination program.
“Public communication must be well prepared, even though not every aspect must be announced to the public. The price of the vaccine isn’t required to be announced,” said President Jokowi in the meeting.
He told cabinet members to focus on disseminating information on the vaccine’s target priority, its halal aspect, quality, and how the government plans to distribute it.
Jokowi also explained how the vaccination program will be separated into two types, where one will be free of charge, which is overseen by the Health Ministry, while the other is the paid vaccination that will be overseen by the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs).
The Presidential Decree No.99/2020 on the COVID-19 vaccine procurement and its distribution authorizes Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto to set the price for the future vaccine.
