TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin stated on Thursday that the government is preparing to build eight halal industrial zones (KIH) in various regions.
“The government will implement one-stop halal certification service,” said Ma'ruf during the 63rd Dies Natalis of Diponegoro University via online on Thursday, October 15.
According to Ma'ruf, the development of halal industrial areas is one of the government’s efforts to achieve its goal as the world’s largest producer of halal commodities. Indonesia is still being consumers of halal goods and services thus far, he added.
“To date, we are still the biggest consumer of halal products in the world, instead of the biggest producer of halal products,” the VP said.
Along with the effort, the government is bolstering small industries or micro and small enterprises (MSEs) that are running the business of halal goods.
Ma'ruf Amin hoped MSEs that are engaged in the halal product sector could push Indonesia to become the leading exporter of halal goods to various countries.
