TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The final draft of the Job Creation Law has changed again. After it was confirmed to be 1,035 pages long, it is now reportedly 812 pages long.
The House of Representatives (DPR) Secretary-General, Indra Iskandar, confirmed the 812-page legislation, clarifying it was due to changes in the paper format from the A4 size to the Legal size.
“Yes, it is 812 pages. It previously used the A4 page format, now it uses the legal format so it becomes 812 pages long,” said Indra on Monday, October 12, 2020.
Indra explained that the document had not been submitted yet to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. However, he stopped short of detailing whether the draft was ready and fully signed by the chairmen of faction groups of the House's Legislation Body (Baleg) and the House leaders.
He was also non-committal when asked about possible changes in the substance of the latest document, saying the matter should be asked to the government. “I cannot talk about the substance, only the administration,” Indra added.
Tempo has examined the 812-page version. In this latest document, there are additions between Chapter VIA, VI, and VII. The chapters regulate the national fiscal policy related to tax and distribution.
Chapter VIA consists of six articles. There are also additional articles, viz. Article 156A, Article 156B, and Article 159A, as well as additions and changes to paragraphs in Articles 157 and 158.
Earlier today, Indra announced the 1,035-page document of the Job Creation Law would be submitted to President Jokowi. The draft also contained several changes compared to the 905-page previous version circulated on October 5, 2020.
