TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) secretary general, Indra Iskandar, confirmed that the final draft of the job creation law that will be sent to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will be 1,035 pages long.
This information contrasts previous information that stated the final version of the omnibus law would be 905 pages (October 5) and 1,052 pages (October 9).
“That is confirmed, the last that was discussed was 1,035 pages,” said Indra as Tempo reached him on Monday, October 12.
The draft that is entitled “job creation draft law - send to the president” states that this draft had been approved by the House in the 7th plenary meeting during the 1st period of 2020/2021 on October 5 to be passed into law. It was also signed by DPR deputy speaker Azis Syamsuddin.
According to Indra, the substance inside the 1,035 pages-long law is the same with the 905-page version that had circulated on October 5th. However, he is unaware of the 1,052-page version that circulated on October 9.
The changes in the number of pages in the job creation draft law, according to him, is due to the format refinements and editorial editing. This final version will be evaluated by the House of Representatives legislation board (Baleg) today and will be reported back to the DPR speaker.
He therefore denied rumors that the final draft of the job creation law had not been finalized.
