TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that the massive demonstration rejecting the newly enacted Omnibus Law had caused damages to 11 TransJakarta shelters throughout the capital city. The damages are estimated to amount up to IDR 25 billion in total.
"Our rough estimate is around IDR 25 billion," said Anies at the Hotel Indonesia roundabout (Bundaran HI) on Thursday, October 8, 2020. The Governor promised that the damages will be fixed immediately and temporary bus stops will be prepared to replace destroyed shelters as repairs taking place.
According to officials, TransJakarta shelters located at Tosari ICBC, Tosari Baru, and Sarinah sustained major damages after the facilities were partially burned during the demonstration.
Large groups of demonstrators from major universities and labor unions joined forces to reject the omnibus law on job creation that was passed by the House of Parliament (DPR) last Monday, October 5, 2020.
