Governor Anies Baswedan Meets Anti-Omnibus Law Protesters

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan made an appearance at Central Jakarta's 'Bundaran HI' roundabout amidst the mass-protest demanding the omnibus law to be revoked on Thursday, October 8, 2020.
The governor was accompanied by Metro Jaya Police Chief Insp. Gen. Nana Sudjana and Kodam Jaya Military Commander (Pangdam Jaya) Dudung Abdurrachman.
The three men then discuss with a large group of demonstrators present at the location. Most of the demonstrators were lamenting about the recently passed omnibus law.
Pangdam Jaya Commander Dudung also offered to transport the protesters home safely. "I'm here as a mediator, I don't want all of you to get hurt," said Dudung.
Prior to Anies Baswedan's visit, demonstrators, which consist of students and laborers, were pushed back by the Police to the area of Tanah Abang a few kilometers away from the initial location of the chaotic demonstration.
