TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Religious Affairs Minister Fachrul Razi said that he will act firmly against the head of the ministry's branch office in Jombang after the branch leader reportedly hosted a wedding event that goes against Covid-19 pandemic health protocols.
"If violations are found, we will surely take firm actions that abide by existing regulations," wrote Fachrul in a written statement on Thursday, October 8, 2020. "Everyone must obey the law, which includes officials within the religious affairs ministry."
The branch leader in question is Taufiq Abdul Djalil.
Minister Fachrul reminded officials to act as role-model for the public by always abiding by health protocols. He also urged state officials to be more sensitive and put forth the sense of crisis amidst a global pandemic.
"Becoming an official member of the Religious Affairs Ministry is like a person wearing white clothes, just one little stain would be visible," said Fachrul.
