Jakarta on Flood Watch as 6 Floodgates on Alert Level 3 This Morning

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta Water Resources Agency reported that the water levels at six floodgates were in alert level 3 this morning following heavy downpours in Depok and Jakarta.

The water level at the six water gates was being monitored, namely Pesanggrahan with a water level of 195 cm, Manggarai with 780 cm, Krukut Hulu with 190 cm, Pasar Ikan with 186 cm, Marina with 184 cm, and Sunter Hulu with 200 cm.

In the Manggarai floodgate, the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) recorded the increase in the water level starting at 3 a.m. Areas that possibly hit by flooding included Gondangdia, Grogol, Jati Pulo, Kali Anyar, Karet Tengsin, Kota Bambu Selatan, Kota Bambu Utara, Menteng, Petamburan, and Tomang.

Depok and Jakarta areas were showered by heavy rain on late Monday, October 4, 2020. Several areas were hit by floods. Jakarta Metro Jaya Police tweeted on @TMCPoldaMetro, at 11:13 p.m. that Jalan NIS Cilandak Timur, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta was flooded.

Jalan Kemang Utara IX, Duren Tiga and Jalan Kemang Selatan XII in South Jakarta were also inundated.
