TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United States President Donald J. Trump and his wife Melania have tested positive for Covid-19. Trump delivered the news himself through his Twitter account.
"Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!" he tweeted on October 2, at 11:54 West Indonesia Time.
Just hours before, Trump tweeted to say he and Melania were waiting for test results after advisor Hope Hicks tested positive for the new coronavirus.
The president has been actively attending campaigns and rallies over the past few weeks, with Hicks on board. On Tuesday, both attended a presidential debate in Ohio, and on Wednesday they held a campaign in Minnesota.
The White House, in its press statement, said that reporters and those working with Donald Trump are regularly tested for the coronavirus.
