Ma'ruf Amin's Spokesman Urges Police to Probe Altered Photo of VP with Porn Star

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spokesperson for Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, Masduki Baidlowi, asked the police to immediately investigate a photo juxtaposing the VP with a Japanese senior porn star, Shigeo Tokuda, or known as 'Kakek Sugiono' (Grandpa Sugiono).

“Hopefully, the police will immediately follow up on the report. By means, investigate it completely, who posted the photo and the motive behind it,” said Masduki when contacted by Tempo on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.

Masduki appreciated the measure taken by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) youth wing GP Ansor that reported the case to the Balai Tanjung Resort Police. He said he would not file a similar report yet allowed people willing to do so.

“I heard that someone wants to make a report too, so go ahead. That is anyone’s right,” he said.

According to Masduki, rampant efforts to discredit the VP had caused internal concern among members of one of the country’s largest Muslim organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).

“What GP Ansor has done is the biggest part of the aspirations of NU people and other Muslim organizations such as MUI and others. Many wondered why people commit such actions [to discredit the VP],” said Masduki.

A Facebook account under the name of Sulaiman Marpaung uploaded an altered image of VP Ma'ruf Amin with a Japanese porn star. Tempo found that the post had been deleted by the owner and had only left an apology.
