Dangdut Concert amid COVID-19; Tegal's DPRD Deputy Face Criminal Charges

30 September 2020 12:00 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Java Police has named the Tegal City’s Council (DPRD) deputy speaker Wasmad Edi Susilo as suspect after holding a major dangdut concert which violates COVID-19 health protocols. He now faces up to one year imprisonment.

“The initial investigation found that Maswad will be charged with Article 93 of Law No.6/2018 on health quarantine and Article 216 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) for not heeding to orders from state officials,” said the Central Java police spokesperson, Grand Commissioner Iskandar Fitriana Sutisna on September 29.

The Tegal DPRD deputy speaker is scheduled to undergo questioning on September 30, said Iskandar. Maswad's initial event permit did not allow him to use a large stage setup for the dangdut concert.
