TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesperson, Febri Diansyah, argues that public support is a crucial factor in helping improve the anti-graft agency as he believes solid support is better delivered through criticism when the agency is amissed.
“We will criticize the KPK if they make a mistake, but we must preserve the institution as there are people within the KPK with ideals and fantastic anti-corruption spirit,” said Febri Diansyah in an Instagram discussion with Tempo on Monday.
During the discussion, Febri said that the main strength in terms of corruption eradication comes from KPK employees and strong public support as he believes the two are inseparable aspects on establishing KPK’s independence.
“Not just taking the form of laws but must also be seen as something that can be functionally conducted by employees with an independent mentality,” he said. “For me personally, I have reached the conclusion that I could contribute significantly from the outside.”
