TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has once again made it clear that he believes localized intervention or a “mini lockdown” is an effective strategy to handle COVID-19 cases.
“Once again I convey to the PC-PEN committee that localized intervention, or a continuous mini lockdown will be far more effective,” said the president in opening the virtual limited meeting for the handling of COVID-19 and economic recovery on Monday, September 28.
The mini lockdown he mentioned refers to the government locking down areas at the level of neighborhood units (RT) and community units (RW) up to the lockdown of clusters that emerge at “pesantrens” or Islamic boarding schools.
“I personally view that way to be more effective. And a continuous mini lockdown will be more effective,” said Jokowi. “Don’t generalize one whole city or regency, moreover one province, as it would harm many people.”
