TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry revoked 14 export permits of lobster seeds after the exporters were found violating the regulation on export.
The Ministry’s Secretary-General Antam Novambar said during a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission IV on Tuesday, September 22, that exporters manipulated the report of volume export.
However, they were still permitted to cultivate lobsters, Antam added.
Antam said the cases have been submitted to the authorities. The permit had also been suspended during the investigation.
“The corporates cannot deliver lobster hatchlings until the investigation by the authorities completes,” said Antam as quoted from the release on Wednesday, September 23.
He further reiterated that the gap volume between the lobster seeds that would be exported to Vietnam and the report reached up to 1.12 million seeds.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the exporters falsified the data in order to minimize losses caused by the difference in selling prices on the export market and buying prices in fishers. Besides, they were determined to suppress the losses from dead seeds.
