TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated that cooperation with various parties to deal with air pollution is becoming more urgent, especially in a bid to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Our health system has been under tremendous pressure,” said Anies in a virtual launching of the partnership between the city administration and a philanthropic organization Bloomberg Philanthropies on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
Indonesia’s capital city was facing complex issues of pollution. To overcome this, he added, a multisectoral approach is necessary. By means, the government must join hands with both international and domestic organizations.
“This is our responsibility to reduce environmental pressures that cause people to suffer illnesses,” Anies Baswedan said.
Today, September 23, 2020, Jakarta provincial government and Bloomberg Philanthropies launched a document of For Clean Air in Jakarta regarding plans to realize fresh air in the capital. The cooperation aimed at improving air quality in the next two years.
The collaboration was expected to achieve Jakarta's long-term vision, which is creating a safe, productive, and sustainable city by 2030. That way, all citizens will be prosperous and live healthily.
