AP II to Conduct Routine Urine Test on Employees

22 September 2020 11:53 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaState-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) along with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) planned to hold routine urine tests on airport personnel in a bid to anticipate illegal drugs abuse.

“Angkasa Pura II and BNN have signed a memorandum of understanding on the prevention and eradication of the abuse and trafficking of illegal drugs and narcotics precursors,” said Soekarno-Hatta Airport Executive General Manager, Agus Haryadi, in a statement on Monday, September 21.

For the early stage, the test would be carried out at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The BNN would then hold it in 18 other airports managed by AP II.

Agus ensured that the urine test would be established in a sudden. Airports, he added, would install publication media such as digital banners as a campaign against narcotics.

Additionally, airport aviation security (Avsec) personnel were also encouraged to be capable of handling issues related to narcotics use in the airport areas. “The main task of Avsec is to support safe flights, including blocking dangerous goods from boarding the plane,” Agus said.
