Sadistic Couple Behind Mutilation Case Face Death Sentence

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The suspected murderer of a 32-year old man whose body was mutilated, together with her partner, now faces death sentences. The murderous couple is Laeli Atik Supriyatin (27) and Djumadil Al Fajri (26). 

According to one of her college friends, the female suspect Laeli was known as a socially-active and academically intelligent student. She is a graduate of the University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Math and Science.

Her friends were surprised that she would end up being a sadistic killer. 

“She was just fine on campus. She was logical and very critical, apart from being pretty bright,” said one of her friends to Tempo on Friday, September 18. “And to think she could do something like that, Damn! That’s just crazy.”

Laeli and her boyfriend were arrested by police at Permata Cimanggis Housing Complex in Depok on Wednesday, September 16. 

Both suspects murdered Rinaldy Harley Wismanu at an apartment space in Central Jakarta after coaxing him there via Laeli - who met Rinaldy from dating-app Tinder. Unbeknownst to Rinaldy at the time, Fajri had been hiding in the toilet already intending to commit murder. 

After Laeli and Rinaldy performed intercourse, Fajri launched his attack. He struck Rinaldy’s head three times with a rock and stabbed him seven times before mutilating his body into 11 pieces, which were then kept in a suitcase and a backpack and left in an apartment room at the Kalibata City Apartment.
