TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan asked local governments to give a detailed explanation about the plan to build quarantine centers for Covid-19 patients who are asymptomatic and only showing mild symptoms.

"This is important to avoid self-isolation at home, which can transmit the virus to family members," Luhut said while chairing a virtual meeting with the governors of South Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, Bali and North Sumatra, Wednesday, September 16.

President Joko Widodo wants to focus on controlling Covid-19 outbreaks in nine provinces. Luhut, deputy of the Policy Committee for Covid-19 Control and National Economic Recovery, is monitoring efforts and operational plans to deal with Covid-19 in those four provinces that have the highest numbers of positive cases after Jakarta.

"I asked for details on each cluster classified into several large sub-clusters, namely offices, families, markets, and other crowded spots," Luhut told the governors.

In addition, Luhut asked the police and military to mobilize troops for enforcing the discipline of health protocols in crowded areas.

On Monday, President Jokowi ordered Luhut to closely monitor the handling of Covid-19 in Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Bali, North Sumatra and Papua.

These provinces contribute to 75 percent of the total cumulative cases, and 68 percent of active cases in Indonesia.

According to corona.jakarta.go.id, the number of positive cases in Jakarta as of Wednesday, September 16, is 56,953 people. The country's total number of confirmed cases is 225,030. The largest cluster in the capital city is the family cluster, where one patient infects the rest of their family members due to the close proximity of living in the same house.
