TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the criminal investigation agency (Bareskrim), Gen. Comm. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, on Thursday said the fire that broke out at the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) - which eventually burned the entire building - is classified as a criminal event.
He said police investigators came to this conclusion after questioning 131 witnesses. “For the meantime investigators conclude that it is related to a criminal event,” said Listyo in South Jakarta on Thursday.
Police, for the meantime, will be investigating the incident with Article 187 and Article 188 of the criminal code (KUHP) which oversees cases of arson.
The head of Bareskrim also said field investigation on the Attorney General's Office building concludes that the source of the fire was not caused by a short circuit but open flame.
