  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil encouraged Jakarta residents to stop visiting Puncak - which is under the West Java administration’s jurisdiction - as a holiday destination especially since the capital city had imposed the large-scale social restriction or PSBB

“Nearly 70 percent of visitors at Puncak are not West Java residents. In the end this doesn’t restrict anything but only moves over the interaction [of people],” said Ridwan Kamil after undergoing his second vaccination in the COVID-19 candidate vaccine clinical trial he is participating in.

He noted that the West Java administration has coordinated its efforts with transportation agencies to address this issue as he said the decision taken by Jakarta upon reintroducing PSBB has affected regional and national levels.

Upon leading Monday’s meeting on the COVID-19 pandemic mitigation - as he is the head of the COVID-19 task force - he said regional leaders of Jakarta’s satellite cities; Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi, have agreed to support Jakarta’s PSBB by imposing micro-scale social restrictions (PSBM) in the capital city’s surrounding cities.
