TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Logistics Association asserted that food delivery services will grow further during the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) period because of dine-in restrictions for cafes and restaurants.
Chairman of the Indonesian Logistics Association Zaldy Ilham Masita predicted that the increase will be around 30 percent and will not be as high as the early period of the PSBB. Zaldy explained that the growth will not be as high as the early PSBB period because shopping malls and supermarkets will be allowed to open.
"Delivery performance is not as good as last year because of the decrease in purchasing power, which become the main factor. We hoped that PSBB chapter II can be effective so that the economy can run normally," Zaldy said on Monday, September 14, 2020.
In addition, Zaldy mentioned that same-day inter-city food delivery services continue to grow consistently although shopping malls and restaurants remain open. Services utilizing airplane fleets remain operational under the consideration of adjustment in line with flight schedules during the Covid-19 pandemic.
One of the most important points of the PSBB chapter II is the limitation of activities in restaurants, cafes, and diners.
Restaurants, diners, cafes can remain operational to serve deliveries or takeaway orders, but not allowed to accept visitors for dine-in.
The provision is stated in Article 10 of Jakarta Governor Regulation No. 33 of 2020. For food and beverage businesses, the person in charge for a restaurant, diner, or similar business has the responsibility to limit their services only for take-away, online orders, or delivery services.
