  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Mayor of one of Jakarta’s satellite cities, Bogor, Bima Arya, on Sunday said that the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) - which has been reimposed due to rising COVID-19 cases in the capital city - will reduce the load of KRL train stations in Bogor.

“The train passenger buildup happened when every sector was opened, but now it will not have an affect,” said Mayor Bima Arya on September 13.

However, Bima said that his administration is anticipating the possibility of Jakartans traveling to Bogor as a way to avoid the semi-lockdown protocol as the PSBB status bars in-dining for restaurant businesses and tourist destinations in the capital city.

He realizes that he cannot ban residents of Jakarta from entering Bogor and said that the best Bogor can do is to highly increase health protocols or physical restrictions in areas that might be favorite destinations for Jakartans.

“We have the data on how many tourists enter Bogor for weekdays and weekends. We’ll hold a meeting [on Monday] to anticipate a solution for that matter,” said Bima Arya on the surprise PSBB protocol reinstated by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

Despite showing support for Jakarta’s decision, Arya assures that Bogor will only impose a micro PSBB social restriction for the region he leads.
