Minister Fachrul Razi Reminds Public to Pray at Home as Covid-19 Cases on Rise

11 September 2020 11:52 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaReligious Affairs Minister Fachrul Razi appealed to the public to obey regulations issued by the regional government and the Covid-19 mitigation task force following the rising number of positive cases in several regions.

People living in areas classified as red zone or at high-risk virus transmission are advised to limit outdoor activities and perform prayers at home.

“We call on people living in areas with high positive cases of Covid-19 to limit their activities outside and pray at home,” said Fachrul in a written statement on Friday, September 11, 2020.

Fachrul further demanded religious figures to actively promote the government’s instructions to the community, such as to stay home and comply with the health protocols during the pandemic.

Obeying the regulations, said Fachrul, is a form of social piety as religious people and a part of citizen’s responsibility.

“As religious people, we need to prioritize the safety of life or hifz al-nafs. Protecting life is one of the main substances and obligations in the religion,” said Fachrul Razi.
