Indonesian Military Names 56 TNI Personnel as Suspects in Ciracas Station Attack

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Military has named 56 TNI personnel as suspects in the recent attack on Ciracas Police Station in East Jakarta. Fifty suspects are TNI Army soldiers while six are Navy officers.
The soldiers were named suspects after the authority investigated 106 TNI members as of Wednesday, September 9.
The TNI held a press conference regarding the progress of the investigation and investigation into the attack on the Ciracas Police Headquarters at the Army Military Police Headquarters in Central Jakarta today.
The TNI's Commander of the Military Police Center, Maj. Gen. Eddy Rate Muis, said that the suspects are charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code on violence against people committed in public. They are facing up to 5 years and 6 months in prison.
The suspects are also charged with Article 169 of the Criminal Code on associations aimed at committing acts of crime.
On August 29, a group of unidentified men attacked the Ciracas Police Station in East Jakarta. Eddy said that investigators suspect that the soldiers committed the assault as retaliation after their fellow soldier, Second Pvt. M Ilham, was allegedly beaten up in Ciracas.
