Indonesian Ministries Synergize to Complete COVID-19 Vaccine

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian COVID-19 task force spokesman, Wiku Adisasmito, assures that the Indonesian vaccine development team formed by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will coordinate well with the national task force.
Wiku mentioned that the team is led by the Coordinating Ministry for Economy, with members from the Coordinating Ministries for Human Development and Culture, and the Politics, Law, and Security Affairs. "They are also included in the [COVID-19 handling] committee’s structure. Through this, the coordination will be immediately formed,” he said in Tuesday’s press conference, Sept. 8.
The role of this vaccine development team, he explains, is to accelerate the development of the vaccine itself and realize the nation’s resilience and national independence. They are also tasked to synergize the research efforts among research institutions.
“We don’t have much time. so we must certainly complete this by the end of 2021,” said Wiku.
