Dead Body on Ciliwung River; Police Strongly Suspect Murder

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The East Jakarta Police said that the man found dead in Ciliwung River was likely a murder victim. On Saturday last week, residents of Kampung Melayu found a dead body was found floating on the river with hands tied.
"Our temporary suspicion is that the man was murdered. The case is still being processed by the Criminal Investigation Unit," East Jakarta deputy chief of police, Adj. Sr. Comr Stefanus Tamuntuan Tuesday, September 8
The police are still gathering information from the public to reveal the identity of the victim. So far, no one has claimed to be the victim's family member.
"We have questioned four witnesses," he said.
On Saturday morning, September 5, residents of Kampung Melayu saw a man's body floating on Ciliwung River. His hands were tied with a rope and his head was injured.
The police took the body to Kramat Jati Hospital for an autopsy to find out the cause of the death of the victim.
