TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Experience Board (JXB), in collaboration with Senayan Park, MRA Media, and Cinemaxx Global Pasifik, offers the public with a drive-in cinema, an alternative to the movie theater amid the COVID-19 pandemic, dubbed the Skylight Cinema.

Skylight Cinema is open for the public starting today, September 5, until the end of the month. It is located at Pulau Satu area with a capacity of 38 cars and a parking area of 67 cars capacity. It has a giant screen measuring 18x8 meters with the audio system that is integrated into the radio frequency inside the car to maintain its quality.

The drive-in cinema offers national and international movies that will be played twice in one day, at 18:30 and 21:30. The ticket for one car is priced at Rp150,000 for the weekdays and Rp200,000 for the weekends which can be purchased through GO-TIX and LOKET.COM.

Senayan Park Mall Director Josef Lumbantobing hopes that the Skylight Cinema would entertain people who are longing to watch movies in the cinema during the pandemic as the movie theatres have been closed to help suppress the spread of the coronavirus.

“The Indonesian people must’ve been missing for entertainment after staying at home for months. Go on a vacation to a tourist destination can yet to become an ideal option considering the high number of Covid-19 positive cases in Jakarta,” he said in a press release on Saturday, September 5, as quoted by Bisnis.com.

He added that the Skylight Cinema can be an alternative for people to go outside of the house for a short time without having to worry about making physical contact with others.

Josef explained that the establishment of the drive-in cinema will be executed under strict health protocols including sterilizing the tools used for the movie screening.

Visitors and workers must wear a face mask, wash hands, or using hand sanitizers, and their body temperature will be checked. The cars will also be sprayed with disinfectant. The guests aren't allowed to leave the location when the film is running unless for using the toilet.
