TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said his side is preparing regulations to oblige infected people or Covid-19 patients to carry out self-isolation in government facilities, rather than their homes.
“The regulations are being prepared so that it will be more effective in breaking the Covid-19 transmission chain,” said Anies in a voice recording published by Jakarta Public Relations Bureau on Tuesday, September 1.
According to the former education and culture minister, not every person infected with the new coronavirus could maintain discipline in carrying out independent isolation at their home and have adequate information regarding health protocols during their quarantine.
Anies said positive people who were recommended to go through self-isolation at government facilities thus far were those living in dense residential areas as they were prone to transmit the virus to others.
"Later, all of the positive people must be isolated in government facilities," said Anies. "Inshallah this will break the chain more effectively."
Anies Baswedan added that many household infection clusters had recently emerged. In many cases, there was one person who transmitted the virus to many other family members. He added that patients with mild and moderate symptoms would later be isolated at Wisma Atlet Covid-19 Emergency Hospital.
