Jakarta Hospital Records Sudden Spike in COVID-19 Cases

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Persahabatan General Hospital (RSUP Persahabatan) recorded a sudden rise of COVID-19 patients from July up to August of 2020.
The hospital’s planning director, Yudhaputra Tristanto, said the increase comes from patients who were referred to by other hospitals located across the Greater Jakarta Area (Jabodetabek) as the RSUP Persahabatan is one of the referral hospitals to treat coronavirus cases.
“These months, especially in the last weeks of July, the increase was massive,” said Tristanto in a virtual press conference on Tuesday, September 1.
He revealed that the data on average inpatients at the RSUP Persahabatan throughout May-August 2020 saw 22 new daily patients (May), 30 patients in June, 55 inpatients (July), and 69 new patients in August.
Those who are under monitoring are still fluctuating while probable cases remain low. Ever since March to August, the RSUP Persahabatan treated a total of 2,235 COVID-19 patients with 5,300 suspected cases.
