Mild Earthquake Hits Broad Area in Yogyakarta and East Java

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in early Monday (01:28:06 Western Indonesia Times/WIB) reported that a magnitude 4.7 earthquake had struck a wide area from Bantul, Yogyakarta, up to East Java’s Tulungagung.
According to the BMKG official website, the earthquake’s epicenter was 70-kilometers southeast of Pacitan from the depth or hypocenter of 65-kilometers. The exact coordinate of this earthquake is at 8,80 south latitude - 111.221 east longitude.
The earthquake that scales at MMI II, which is categorized as a mild quake, was felt in Bantul, Karangkates, Trenggalek, and Tulungagung.
