Attorney General's Office Fire, Anies Baswedan Lets Police Investigate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan visited the Attorney General's Office to monitor the handling of the fire that engulfs the building on Saturday, August 22, 2020. Anies said that the Jakarta fire brigade will only focus on extinguishing the fire.
"Later we will talk about the cause, let the police investigate and confirm," Anies said at the location of the fire on Saturday, August 22, 2020.
Anies said that as many as 230 officers and 40 fire engines have been deployed to extinguish the fire. Currently, according to Anies, fire at the northern part of the building which was previously burning has successfully been extinguished.
"Since the beginning, the operation [to extinguish the fire] also attempts to safe the southern part, so there have been attempts to prevent the fire from spreading to the southern side of the building," Anies explained.
Fire occurs at the Attorney General's Office on Jalan Sultan Hasanudin Dalam No. 1, Kramat Pela, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta around 7:10 PM Western Indonesia Time. Currently, there have been no reports concerning the number of victims of the incident.
