TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Attorney General's Office building was in fire on Saturday, August 22, 2020. Attorney Razman Nasution suspected that the fire was instigated deliberately to erase evidence documents related to the Djoko Tjandra case and the PT Asuransi Jiwasraya corruption case.
"I suspected the fire at the Attorney General's Office building was intentionally done to destroy documents and evidence," Razman said in a written statement on Saturday, August 22, 2020.
Razman requested President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to immediately order the Chief of the National Police to investigate the fire.
Razman also said that he did not believe the statement made by the Head of Legal Information of the Attorney General's Office Hari Setiyonom who claimed that no documents were burned.
Razman notified that the National Police Headquarter and the Corruption Eradication office should be tightly guarded because the two building may be the next target. However, Razman did not provide explanations about the source of his suspicion.
The Attorney General's Office was on fire on Saturday evening, August 22, 2020. The cause of the fire and the casualties remains unknown. The fire is said to occur at around 7:15 PM Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
