COVID-19 Daily Update: Jakarta Records 565 New Positive Cases

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta Health Agency’s Disease Prevention and Control Head Dwi Oktavia reported an additional 565 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the capital city today, August 19, 2020.

“The number of active cases to date is 9,047. They are still being treated or isolated,” said Dwi in a written statement Tempo quoted from the city’s official website ppid.jakarta.go.id.

She detailed that the new infections came from the results of Polymerase Chain Reaction or PCR testing on 5,095 people. According to Dwi, of the new daily hike, 183 cases were accumulated data from August 16 and 17 which were recently reported.

The figure pushed the city’s total tally to 31,362 cases. Of these, 21,069 patients had been declared recovered, while 1,046 patients died. Thus, the recovery rate hit 67.6 percent, and the COVID-19 mortality rate was recorded at 3.4 percent.

Dwi went on to mention that throughout the past week, the Health Agency’s Disease Prevention and Control conducted PCR tests on 44,514 people.
