Logistics Association Calls for Equal Treatment for Local Businesses

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Logistics and Forwarder Association (ALFI) chair Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi on Monday argues that the government needs to stimulate investments for domestic businesses, especially in terms of ease of permits and noted that local businesses should be given equal attention as foreign businesses. 

“We must be able to collaborate with the entire Indonesian stakeholders, the private sector, [and] the government must be able to provide [the ease of doing business] not just for foreign businesses but it is equally important to accommodate national businesses,” said ALFI chairperson Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi on Monday, August 17.

Hanafi’s statement comes as a response to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s state address on logistical efficiencies and developing transportation connectivity.

The association believes it is important to provide domestic investors with the same “red carpet” as it is proven in the first and second quarter of 2020 that saw the realization of national businesses dominate over international ones. 

Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi also mentioned the shared commitment to implement the government’s B30 program but has yet been supported by the preparedness of the automotive industry, which he argues still shows a non-cohesive plan among stakeholders.
