TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of volunteers participating in phase 3 clinical trials of the potential COVID-19 vaccine produced by China’s Sinovac Biotech have gone through their second day after the injection of the vaccine candidate.
One volunteer, Nina Fatimah said to Tempo that she felt nothing of significance. "Just feeling normal," said Nina on Thursday, August 13.
The same was also felt by another volunteer, Yuana Romdhoniah. Both were injected with the potential vaccine for COVID-19 on Tuesday, August 11, at the Padjadjaran University’s education hospital in Bandung.
It is unknown which group of test subjects both volunteers were included in. The volunteers are separated into two groups, one group was injected by the potential vaccine and the other group was recipients of placebo.
Yuana and Nina said they both did not feel any reaction. Field team manager, Eddy Fadlyana, said no volunteers have reported experiencing fever as the clinical trial team will only test the volunteers’ condition two weeks after they were first injected by the potential COVID-19 vaccine. Volunteers are also asked to log their daily changes in body temperature for the next six months.
