Police Summons Hadi Pranoto Over COVID-19 Cure Claims

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta's Metro Jaya Police announced that it would summon Hadi Pranoto on Thursday, August 13, for questioning after he was reported to the police following his statement on COVID-19 cure in an interview with singer and YouTuber Anji that went viral. 

“We have issued a summons for Hadi Pranoto and he will be questioned as a witness tomorrow at 10 AM,” said Metro Jaya Police spokesperson, Commissioner Yusri Yunus today.

He explained that the case - involving Hadi Pranoto’s claim to have discovered the COVID-19 cure - had been elevated one level after police questioned 7 witnesses, namely a legal sociologist, IT expert, criminal expert, and Erdian Aji Prihartanto or Anji himself on Monday, August 10. 

On August 3, 2020, Muannas Alaidid reported Anji and Hadi Pranoto to the Metro Jaya Police over suspicions of violating Indonesia’s Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE) for spreading what he believes is misinformation.
