TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Mass Rapid Transit or MRT Jakarta CEO William Sabandar stated that his side needed a budget of around Rp4-5 billion to relocate and replant trees affected by the Phase 2A construction in Jalan Thamrin and the National Monument or Monas, Central Jakarta.
“The contractor is responsible for the preparation until tree replanting. We roughly estimate the budget at around Rp4-5 billion for replanting and relocation,” said William at his office, Wisma Nusantara Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, August 11.
MRT Phase 2 consists of 10 stations. The Phase 2A construction project covers six-kilometer routes connecting Hotel Indonesia or HI Roundabout and Kota. All stations will be built underground, including Thamrin, Monas, Harmoni, Sawah Besar, Mangga Besar, Glodok, and Kota.
The Phase 2B construction project, meanwhile, has the Kota-Ancol route which extends 5.8 kilometers through Mangga Dua, Ancol, and West Ancol. This project was targeted to kickstart in March 2025.
In this Phase 2A construction project, the company listed a total of 867 trees that must be replaced and relocated from project areas of Thamrin Station, Monas Station, and on Jalan Museum.
MRT Jakarta Construction Director Silvia Halim added that unhealthy trees will be replaced and the good ones will be relocated and replanted once the project is completed. Contractors were now preparing the planting holes and uprooting trees. The relocation was expected to finish within two months.
