TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the COVID-19 task force, Wiku Adisasmito, made it clear that only schools inside yellow and green zones are allowed to open while the areas that present larger risks of viral transmissions are barred from opening its schools.
“Red zones and orange zones are advised against opening schools. We need to learn from low-risk schools,” said Adisasmito in a press conference on Tuesday, August 11.
The task force leader asserted that schools reopened inside green and yellow zones don’t necessarily undergo less strict protocols and reminded that there are a number of restrictions that must be abided by. He explained that government officials are required to shut the operations of schools if the situation worsens.
The decision to reintroduce school activities within yellow and green zones was introduced by the government last week under an official order signed by four state ministers based on the pledge between the Coordinating Ministry of Culture and Human Development, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, and the Religious Affairs Minister.
