TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s spokesperson, Dini Purwono, on Friday assures the public does not need to worry about the latest presidential instruction (Inpres) upon increasing people’s discipline and enforcing the law on existing COVID-19 protocols.
“People shouldn’t be worried about the presidential instruction because it is meant to preserve public safety,” Dini wrote in a press statement released on Friday, August 7.
She continued to elaborate that the sanctions that would be enforced will only apply to the health protocols that have been publicly disseminated, which is common knowledge. The COVID-19 protocol inpres, said the spokesperson, is mainly subjected to businesses and those that manage public facilities.
Moreover, Jokowi’s presidential instruction is said to provide a legal basis for regional administrations to better disseminate the health protocols. “This inpres proves the government’s seriousness to suppress the spread of COVID-19,” wrote Dini.
