AEON Mall in Tangerang Temporarily Closed Following 2 COVID-19 Cases

6 August 2020 11:55 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tangerang regency administration on Thursday, August 6, announced that the AEON Mall located in South Tangerang’s BSD will be temporarily closed after two workers in one of the mall’s tenants had been confirmed positive for COVID-19.

Tangerang Regent Ahmad Zaki Iskandar confirmed the news to Tempo today, “It will be closed until August 13.”

The regent said that mall management has followed-up the finding by conducting thorough sterilization across mall facilities along with contact-tracing and further testing the spread of infections by subjecting employees to rapid tests and PCR swab tests.

Tangerang regency COVID-19 task force spokesperson dr. Hendra Tarmizi confirmed that the two employees had indeed tested positive for COVID-19. However, he is still unable to confirm whether this will classify as a new infection cluster.

“Initial information suggests that the infected employees are not residents of Tangerang,” said Hendra Tarmizi, who is also the head of Tangerang health agency’s disease prevention and control department.

Hendra assured that the AEON Mall case is still isolated to employees and has yet been proven to have spread to visitors.
