Sri Mulyani: Workers with Minimum Wage to Receive Govt Assistance

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Wednesday said workers with a monthly income below Rp5 million will be entitled to the government's new social assistance (bansos).
“The government will provide assistance for people with a monthly income of Rp5 million,” said the finance minister in yesterday’s press conference in Jakarta, August 5.
According to Sri's calculation, receivers of the program will likely amount to a total of 13 million workers. Therefore, the ministry has allocated an estimated budget reaching Rp31 trillion.
Other government programs set to be spent to assist people through the economically-crippling COVID-19 pandemic include Rp30 trillion assistance for 12 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Rp4.6 trillion-worth rice assistance for 10 million receivers, and direct cash assistance for certain card-holders.
The total government budget ready to be spent amounts to Rp203.9 trillion which will mainly help people endure the pandemic. Sri Mulyani reports that the government had already spent Rp85.3 trillion.
