TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As the capital city enters its third transitional large-scale social restriction (PSBB), the Jakarta Administration will extend its temporary ban on wedding receptions due to the risk of COVID-19 infection.
“We think it is still risky because a number of times wedding events have seen viral transmission,” said the head of Jakarta’s tourism and creative economy agency, Cucu Ahmad Kurnia, on Tuesday.
Despite wedding organizers already preparing a new concept for receptions, the government remains adamant that large gatherings in weddings are too risky to be done. He calls for people to remain patient and postpone any plans regarding wedding receptions.
“Especially wedding events that are held at home,” said Ahmad Kurnia.
The Jakarta administration suggests people implement the wedding protocol introduced by the religious affairs that limit gatherings to a maximum of 30 people and two locations: houses of worship or the religious affairs headquarters.
Wedding reception building management caught renting their services amid the COVID-19 pandemic transitional PSBB face up to Rp10 million fine introduced under the Governor’s Regulation No.51/2020.
