TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Airlangga University (Unair) in East Java announced on Sunday that campus management intends to take firm action on the recent prominent case that grabbed public attention after one of its students is a known sexual harasser which has a fetish towards wrapping people.
Unair management reported that they are unaware of the student’s whereabout who is known as “G”, or Gilang Bungkus, as the internet community currently knows him.
“In the meantime, the Dekanat will hold a meeting with the student in question or relatives who can represent him,” said Suko Widodo, Airlangga University’s spokesperson to Tempo on Sunday, August 2.
The spokesperson - who hopes the meeting will produce a solid decision - said that campus management is unable to make any decisions regarding Gilang as the 2015 cultural studies student cannot be reached.
“Hopefully a decision can be made next week,” said Suko Widodo who asserts that management will not protect the sexual harasser. “We will act decisively and will not protect the violations he made and we will conduct our own investigation.”
After the controversy emerged in Twitter following the testimony of who is believed to be one of Gilang’s wrapping fetish victims, Airlangga University has made available a help center to accommodate victims’ reports. The help center has received 15 reports as of now.
