TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto condemned the attack of cocktail bombs at the party’s branch office in Megamendung, Bogor Regency. Hasto said his party opposed any forms of terror.
“The PDIP opposes various forms of terror,” said Hasto in a written statement on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
According to him, the attack was a cowardly act. “It shows ideological motives.”
He considered it as a form of attack on democracy, humanity, and the life order of people longing a sense of peace. The acts of terror, Hasto underlined, must not be set aside.
Reports suggested that the party’s branch office in Megamendung was thrown with Molotov cocktails at the early hours of Tuesday, July 28, or around 2:30 a.m. local times. The office was the residence of the deputy head of the party’s regional representative (PAC) Rosenfield Panjaitan.
The police were still investigating the incident.
“People who have disturbed public peace must be punished, and the law must not lose from any acts of anti-God and anti-humanity terrors,” Hasto remarked.
Hasto further demanded all PDIP supporters, members, and cadres to remain calm in responding to the attack.
