TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Nusa Tenggara Tourism Agency Head, Lalu Moh Faozal, confirmed that the construction project of Mandalika circuit, designed to host a round of Grand Prix motorcycle racing or MotoGP in 2021, was still afoot.
“Inshallah (God willing), the trial of the circuit will be held in April 2021,” said Faozalin Mataram, July 28, 2020.
He claimed that the development progress has reached 50 percent completion. In August 2020, the 4.31-kilometer racetrack will enter the paving stage.
“So everything is in line with the planned schedule,” Faozal added.
According to him, the planned street circuit trial in 2021 could dismiss issues saying that the project construction was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There is no delay in the circuit construction, moreover the event is organized between MotoGP organizers and the Indonesian government. The agreement is not between regions of NTB but countries through presidents,” Faozal said.
Therefore, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Faozal stated that the project was being continued so that there would be no problems in the construction.
Previously, NTB Governor H Zulkieflimansyah ensured that the construction of the Mandalika MotoGP circuit in Central Lombok remained as scheduled. “It is still on the right track,” he said.
