TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Agriculture Agency (KPKP) announced that it has supervised the health and safety of hundreds of Eid-al Adha sacrificial Qurban cattle ahead of one of Islam’s most festive day.
Head of East Jakarta KPKP, Yuli Absari, said that there are three requirements that need to be met for a Qurban sacrificial animal, where cattle must be healthy, old enough, and does not come with a birth defect.
“We checked their teeth, private parts, eyes, and fed them with vitamins that would encourage them to eat more,” said Absari in the Jakarta administration official website on July 21.
The cattle health check that was held on July 20 also follows the instruction of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan under governor’s decree No.43/2020 that oversees the temporary shelters of Qurban animals amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Furthermore, the government encouraged people to only purchase Qurban animals from official shelters that are overseen by the Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture Agency.
