Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan Extends Transitional PSBB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan announced on Thursday, July 16, 2020, that he has officially extended the transitional large-scale social restriction (PSBB) for another 14-day period.
"The transitional PSBB phase 1 is extended for another 2-weeks," said Anies in a Youtube live feed on Thursday, July 16, 2020.
The governor explained that the COVID-19 positivity rate in Jakarta for the past week had increased to 5.9 percent even though the city’s positivity rate early into the transitional large-scale social restriction (PSBB) only scored 4.4 percent and even reached 3.1 percent.
The virus' reproduction number had also increased to 1.15 as of July 12 when it previously was able to be under one. As of Thursday, July 16, 2020, officials recorded 304 new cases and added to the total tally to 15,477 cases with 781 inpatients and 4,121 people conducting self-quarantine.
