Indonesia Launches 10 New Power Plants

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif inaugurated 10 power plants. The power plants are part of the 35,000 MW mega power project.
The 10 power plants have a combined capacity of 555 Megawatts (MW), comprising of seven gas power plants (PLTMG), one geothermal power plant (PLTP), one steam gas power plant (PLTGU), and one mini-hydro power plant (PLTM).
Minister Arifin said that the construction of the 10 power plants used up Rp15 trillion of investments. The power plants' operation is expected to provide 4,038 jobs whilst supporting the growth of industries—both small and big.
"The existence of energy must be felt throughout the Territory of Indonesia," Arifin said in a virtual inauguration ceremony, Thursday, July 16, Bisnis Indonesia reported.
Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, state power company PLN is trying to complete the 35,000 MW power plant project and the construction of a transmission network under strict health protocols.
