TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, asserted that legislators will not pass the Bill on Pancasila Ideology Guidelines ("RUU HIP") and the Job Creation Omnibus Draft Bill ("RUU Cipta Kerja") during a plenary session held on Thursday, July 16, 2020.
"First of all, we would like to address this to public figures and Ulemas who have asked for clarification. It is untrue that the plenary today will pass two draft bills such as the RUU HIP and the Omnibus RUU," said Dasco to journalists at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex on Thursday, July 16, 2020.
The Deputy Speaker urged the public to constantly screen the credibility of any information they may come across and assured that the House of Representatives (DPR) are still waiting for the government's decision regarding the RUU HIP.
The plan, according to Sufmi, is to see the Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD hand over the official letter from the government to the House Speaker and the following steps taken by the House would be determined by the substance of that letter.
